A new research project from Fiona Stanley Hospital’s Gaming Disorder Clinic and researchers at The University of Western Australia (UWA) is in a preparatory phase to increase the availability of specialist services within schools and universities across Western Australia.

The project aims to help schools identify problematic gaming and internet use earlier, before these difficulties become more serious. Students will have the opportunity to complete brief screening measures, with those who may benefit from support offered help matched to their needs.

Our multidisciplinary team will develop self-guided online resources, brief clinician-supported interventions, or referral to specialist services for young people experiencing more severe difficulties.

The project will also help researchers understand how schools and health services can work together to provide accessible, effective support for young people experiencing problematic digital behaviours.
